About Bishop's Boats

We run daily seal-watching trips from April to the end of October. Departing from the picturesque Blakeney harbour or Morston quay. We have two traditional clinker- built wooden boats and a new addition to our company, a smaller twelve seater – this will run from Blakeney when the tides allow, see times in red on the timetable page. The twelve seater is also ideal for private charters, small groups and birthday parties.

Our boats wind their way down the sheltered waters of the creeks to the far end of Blakeney Point. Without going out into the open sea, our experienced skipper’s take you to known areas frequented by seals. However, we ask that you appreciate that we do not control, or attempt to influence their natural behaviour, or habitat, in order to see them.
Here you may observe both common and grey seals from the boats, which are able to get close to the basking seals near the water’s edge. Our knowledgeable crew will tell you all about the lives of these delightful creatures. There are plenty of birds to be seen too – so have your camera at the ready. These seal-watching trips
last approximately 1hr from Morston or 1½hrs from Blakeney.

If you would like to step ashore, we also offer some trips which combine seal-watching with a visit to Blakeney Point Nature Reserve, owned by the National Trust. Here you can visit the old lifeboat house, now an Information Centre. There are many species of birds to be seen – so don’t forget your binoculars!
Special bird watching trips may be provided in the event of a rarity arriving on Blakeney Point. Information will be available by pager where possible.

Booking for all trips is always advisable, particularly during holiday periods and for the limited Blakeney trips. To reserve your places, call free on 08000 740 754 between 8am – 7pm (7 days a week). No payment for advance bookings is required until you collect your ticket. If you need to transfer or cancel a booking, please give at least one hours notice. Tickets must be collected from BLAKENEY QUAY no later than 30 minutes before sailing time.
We operate in all weathers, as long as it is safe to do so. Warm or waterproof clothing is advisable, but if you should be caught out by an unexpected shower, we have waterproof plastic macs available for £1. You can bring a dog, but please keep it on a lead. Private charters are available for all of our boats.
