About Wells & Walsingham Light Railway
The WWLR is the longest ten & a quarter inch narrow gauge steam railway in the world. The unique Garratt locomotive "Norfolk Hero" was built in 1986 specially for this line. The scenic four mile journey through the lovely countryside takes about 30 minutes in each direction. There are halts at WARHAM St. MARY and WIGHTON. With the regular timetable service you have ample time to explore WALSINGHAM with its shops, restaurants and inns as well as the famous shrine before catching the train back. Coach parties and group bookings are welcome by prior arrangement.
For a special event or celebration you can book an exclusive evening charter train. Full details can be obtained from the Wells Station or by phoning 01328 711630 (8.00am to 5.00pm)
The 2011 season starts on Saturday 9th April and trains run every day until Saturday 29th October. See the website for details of train times during the season together with fare details.
