About Wells & Walsingham Light Railway

The WWLR is the longest ten & a quarter inch narrow gauge steam railway in the world. The unique Garratt locomotives "Norfolk Hero" (built in 1986) and "Norfolk Heroine" (built in 2011) were designed specially for this line. Wells Station has a large car park and a charming signal box which accommodates a cafe and gift shop

The scenic four mile journey through the lovely countryside takes about 30 minutes in each direction. There are halts at WARHAM St. MARY and WIGHTON. With the regular timetable service you have ample time to explore WALSINGHAM with its shops, restaurants and inns as well as the famous shrine before catching the train back.Details of some of the special attractions in Walsingham can be found in the railway's timetable leaflet available at TIC's or Wells Station. More information about Walsingham can be found on the Walsingham Village website.

Coach parties and group bookings (at discount rates) are welcome by prior arrangement. For a special event or celebration you can book an exclusive evening charter train. Full details for these bookings can be obtained from the Wells Station or by phoning 01328 711630 (8.00am to 5.00pm)
